On March 8th, attorney Ariel Dello Strologo, partner at GPD- Gemma Provaggi De André, Legal and Tax Law Firm, was appointed President of the Italian Jewish Lawyers Association (AGE). Dello Strologo succeeds Prof. Giorgio Sacerdoti, Professor Emeritus of International Law at Bocconi University.
The non-profit Association, founded four years ago, promotes respect for human rights, the principle of equality among human beings and the right of all States to live and exist in peace. It is also dedicated to the study of legal issues of particular interest to Jewish institutions, with the aim of researching and publishing information on the personal and legal condition of Jews in Italy and worldwide and promoting the study and knowledge of Jewish law.
In collaboration with UCEI (Union of Italian Jewish Communities), AGE has launched an important initiative: “Art. 3: Different Among Equals“, which provides for a series of meetings in six different cities, spanning 2023 and 2024. At each appointment, two authoritative scholars will reflect on what equality means today and how the principle enshrined in Article 3 of the Constitution should guide the country’s forthcoming choices on issues concerning various forms of equality, through a dialogue open to civil society.
The various topics addressed in the meetings (Law and Justice, Environment and Climate Justice, Work and Gender, Citizenship and Rights, Education and Civic Education, Society and Responsibility) will then be subject to analysis by experts and compared with figures from the Jewish world, also to highlight the contribution that Jewish thought and culture provide to the improvement of the community and society.
