prof. Andrea Gemma

Andrea is a licensed lawyer qualified to practice before the higher courts and leads on behalf of GPD the Alliance with Troutman Pepper. His practice focuses on litigation and arbitration in the areas of corporate law, contract law, banking law and corporate crisis. He gained relevant experience in the extrajudicial practice, with specific regard to corporate governance, M&A, corporate law, restructuring and crisis management and energy. He managed the negotiation of sophisticated cross-border transactions for domestic and foreign investors, private equity funds and institutional investors (seller and buy side). He works in Italian, English and French.
Andrea is Professor of Institutions of Private Law at the School of Law of Roma Tre University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of OGiPaC - Legal Observatory on the Protection of Cultural Heritage - at the University of Roma Tre and he is also a member of the strategic board of the American University of Rome and of the Steering Committee of the Arbitration Chamber of Rome. He developed a considerable expertise in the field of corporate management of international groups, holding positions on the board of listed companies, banks and asset management companies. He served as a member of the Arbitro Bancario Finanziario at the Collegio di Roma on appointment by the Bank of Italy. He was the legal executor of the Prison Plan appointed by the Minister of Justice, expert of the working group of the Commission appointed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and chaired by the Minister for European Policies for the implementation of EU legislation, member of two Ministerial Commissions at the Ministry of Justice for the reform of bankruptcy law and extraordinary administration procedures. In the field of corporate crisis law, he holds the position of Commissioner in extraordinary administrations appointed by MISE and IVASS and of bankruptcy administrator at the Court of Rome and he is a trustee attorney of procedures. He also acts as coadjutor of the National Agency for the Administration and Destination of Assets Seized and Confiscated from Organized Crime (ANBSC) for major anti-mafia confiscation procedures. He regularly holds conferences and seminars in universities and research centers in Italy and abroad and participates in the cultural debate as author of monographs, articles and essays.
He graduated with honors from Luiss University in 1997, in 1999 he obtained an LL.M. in Banking and Finance at UCL in London. He received his Ph.D. in "Contract Law and Business Economics" from La Sapienza University in Rome and was subsequently a researcher at the University of Roma Tre.
